“A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite imagination and instill love for learning”. Teachers’ Day celebration began on 4th September with a meaningful Eucharistic celebration where the teachers dedicated themselves and offered their teaching aid at the altar of the Lord Almighty. The celebrant Rev. Fr. Tommy quoting poet Kabir Das, “If God and my teacher were to stand before me, who would I first greet? I will choose my Teacher, for it was through his teachings that I saw God” re – emphasized the importance of teachers in moulding the soul of a child for a better society.
On 5th September 2019 we found our school echoing with laughter and joy. The day began with a staff meeting and an overwhelming prayer service was conducted by Sr. Marina and Sr.Snehal. An inspirational message was given by Sr. Ida Barboza, the Joint Secretary and Sr. Rosevera, the principal. After the breakfast the teachers were led to the school auditorium accompanied by the school band amidst the flower shower. After a meaningful prayer service and a graceful prayer dance, the teachers were requested to pin up leaves on the barren branches symbolizing the role of a teacher in the life of a child. The students entertained both teaching and non – teaching staff with songs, dances, moral based skit as well as comic skits. Every staff member was presented with a steel flask, a wonderful expression of gratitude of students as well as acknowledgement of the harmful effects of plastic to one’s health and to the environment.
After the students programme, the PTA members took over and continued the day with more joy and fun. They felicitated Sr. Ida Barboza, the Joint Secretary, and Sr. Rosevera, the Principal with a shawl and a bowl of fruits.
The programme ended with a sumptuouslunch. It was a memorable day for both the teaching and non – teaching staff.
