January 27, 2020 Indians witnessed the first case of Covid -19 and subsequently the increasing number of Covid positive cases made us realise that we too are victims of the Global Pandemic. The country came to a standstill with the lockdown which was declared on 22nd March 2020. No schools, no offices, no shops, no business – a total economy disaster. While sitting at home most of us realised that nature was getting healed – the water was cleaner, air was purer, we could hear the birds chirping and we ourselves were becoming healthier. This was the time for us to realise – that we human beings just destroyed nature which God had beautifully created for us because of our own greed. So, we the Immaculites took a solemn oath to rehabilitate nature by doing our small bit for nature conservation and what better day to give honour to Nature but on World Nature Conservation Day.

Harshita S of Std VIII explained the importance of the day, followed by a meaningful prayer service conducted by Amanda Abreo, Sowmya Ratnam, Abia Susan Mathew and Carol Montheiro . Tanusha S  Shettar, Maduraa B S, Varsha Jain, Shravya P, Ashritha Kamalakar Hegde, Merin Thomas, Umme Saara, Tanya Tersita, Kushala and Menaka K through their innovative ways explained how we can conserve and preserve nature by changing our lifestyle. We were very fortunate to have Shri Rajendra Kalbavi , Executive Director, Dakshina Kannada Nirmithi Kendra, Surathkal, who enthralled us with his awe inspiring message on Water Conservation. Bindu R, Sharvani Aithal, Vaishnavi R Alur, Nisha Anil and Janmitha R through their vigorous dance performance under the guidance of Mrs. Aishwarya paid tribute to the five elements of nature.

Sr. Rosevera in her message congratulated the students of Std 8, 9 and 10 for their hard work and dedication in putting up the wonderful program in spite of the pandemic under the tutelage of Mrs. Dixy. The entire program was compiled, edited and uploaded on the website by Mrs. Shwetha.
